Community safety

What we do to keep GymGuide a good place to train together — especially for younger members — and what you can do if something's wrong.

Need help now?

  • Someone in danger: call 911 (or your local emergency number).
  • Thinking about hurting yourself: call or text 988 (US), any time, free.
  • A child being exploited online: report it to the NCMEC CyberTipline.

How we protect members under 18

You have to be 15 or older to join. Members aged 15 to 17 are protected automatically — nothing to switch on:

Private profile

Starts private and can never be public. Adults can't find teens in search.

Follows are requests

If an adult follows a teen, the teen decides whether to accept.

Comments are controlled

An adult can only comment on a teen's post, or reply to a teen, if the teen follows them.

No location

A teen's home gym and city are never shown to anyone.

Every photo is checked

Teen photos and profile pictures wait for a person before anyone sees them.

No private messages

GymGuide has no DMs, for anyone. Conversations happen in the open.

Personal details blocked

Posts from teens with a phone number or email are refused; links wait for review.

No business posting

Teens can't post promotions, post for a business or share before-and-after photos.

Checks before anything is posted

Every post, comment, bio and photo is checked automatically before it appears — for harassment, hate, sexual content, self-harm, violence, spam, scams, personal information and unsafe health claims, with stricter limits for teens. If the checks are unsure, or they can't run, the post waits for a person instead of going up. Every promotion from a gym or trainer is reviewed by a person too. New accounts can post a little less and can't share links in their first week.

Reporting

Use Report on any post, comment or profile. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them. If several members report the same thing — or anyone reports that a child may be at risk — it's hidden straight away while a moderator looks.

Blocking

Block anyone from their profile. You won't see each other's posts or comments, any follow between you ends, and they can't find your profile. They aren't notified. You can unblock later.

What our moderators do

Review

Look at everything that's held or reported, approve what's fine and remove what isn't.

Explain

Tell the member which rule a removed post broke, so they know what to change.

Act on accounts

Warn, suspend for a set time, or close accounts that keep breaking the rules.

Escalate

Preserve anything that puts a child at risk and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children — never just delete it.

Every moderation decision is recorded with who made it and why. If you think we got one wrong, contact us and a person will look again.

For parents and guardians

If your child is 15–17 and uses the community, the protections above apply to them automatically. If your child is under 15 and has joined, or you're worried about something they've seen or been sent, email hello@gymguide.ai and we'll act on it — including closing an account that shouldn't exist.

Contact our safety team

Email hello@gymguide.ai with “Safety” in the subject, or use the contact form. Read the Community Guidelines and our Terms of Use for the full rules.
